Kenny Perry Wins Memorial, Skipping U.S. Open

Kenny Perry is now a three time winner at the Memorial Tournament, winning it by 2 shots. He now joins Tiger Woods as the only three time winner, and all the two time winners have won at least one major in their career. However, the real story to me was that Perry has no intentions of going to Torrey Pines for the U.S. Open. Before the season, Kenny setup his schedule to allow him the best chance to have a successful year and the U.S. Open was not on his schedule. Now that he has qualified with his solid play, he said he will not change his schedule. Another reason was that he has only played the course twice in 20+ years, and that he does not play that type of course well. I think if I had the chance to play in the U.S. Open I would take my shot at fame. On the other hand I have not had a 20 year golf career, and I’m not trying to make the Ryder Cup team. By the way, the Ryder cup will be played in Perry’s home state of Kentucky. What would you do if you were faced with this decision? Post comments below.
