In my last post I asked for anyone to remind me of the 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines if I ever doubted Tiger Woods again. I was talking about his golf game not his judgment. Today he announced that he will have season ending surgery on his knee and that he has a double stress fracture in his left tibia. Doctors advised him to not play the US Open and let it heal, but he did not listen to that advice. In my sporting career coaches always said play through the pain but never an injury. The later may cost Tiger a run at Jack’s record. In the early stages of Tiger’s career I thought the media made too much of his accomplishments, but over the last 5 years I became a believer. At that point, I felt injury was the only way he would not make a run at Jack Nicklaus’ 18 major championships, however I thought injuries would only hamper him in his 40’s not his 30’s. Tiger, just a word of advice, start listening to your body and the people around you.
